Panox
Panox is a rare crystal that forms from minerals in the earth. It is usually found only in certain places at some depth in the earth. Magdeologers believe that panox forms over tens or even hundreds of thousands of years. Panox is a very dense receptacle for pan and before the widespread use of titancraft in modern times, was exploited by wizards for magic use. Panox of high quality is worth over one thousand times as much as gold by volume. The largest known panox crystal is reported to have been the size of a typical wine bottle. The Aurician Empire controls much of the panox in the West. Panox is found in Transalpine Agogia and in Bijälenland, both part of the Aurician Empire. Panox is also found scattered elsewhere throughout the world.
Panox is essential for modern titancraft and is the core element of the creatrix which is in turn the core component of any true titancraft device. Only a relatively small amount of panox is necessary for the creatrix to function properly. The panox enables the creatrix to make use of the panstream which is ambient magical energy. This is often misunderstood by laymen who believe the panox is the source of the energy. This is not so. The panox enables the creatrix to make use of ambient magical energy and virtually none of its own energy is drained. Under optimum conditions, the panox component can last several centuries. In practice, the panox may last as much as one hundred years. The size of the panox is an important factor in how much energy it can enable to be available by means of the creatrix.
Ancient scholars believed that panox originated from the destruction of the great Cosmic Tree. Modern scholars generally reject this.
